W4G/NG-066 Oakey Top

A short, but steep 0.8 mile hike with 650' EG. Trailhead (34.931, -83.172) is located along FS Road 646/Burrell's Ford Road with parking for a couple of vehicles. Start out along blocked logging road and take the first left in just a couple hundred yards onto another old logging road. This logging road maintains the ridgeline all the way to the summit. It varies from open logging road, to a seldom used manway to off-trail hiking, but the route is simply up. There were areas that may get a bit dense with summertime growth, but should be navigable year-round. Summit is typical open hardwoods with plenty of setup options.
