W4C/EM-014 Three Top Mountain

A steep, but fairly short hike along a gated logging road. 1.7 miles long with 1200' elevation gain, but the first 1/2 mile is a gentle descent. Beautiful summit along a narrow ridge line. Definitely a one wire antenna summit, but great views.

To get to the trailhead, turn on to Eller Road (36.421019, -81.621978). Eller Road turns right immediately and Hidden Valley Road continues on straight. Stay straight on Hidden Valley Rd. A short way up you will be presented with a large sign on the right side of the road for Three Top Mountain subdivision with ominous warning - "Private Property - No Trespassing - Roads Monitored by Video Cameras". Have no fear, there is a state provided sign on the left side of the road indicating that this road provides legal access to the game lands where the summit is located. Stay on the main road, which turns to Oak Trail at some point and continue past the houses. There will be a road which cuts back sharply to the left (36.42042 -81.60174), with another small sign indicating access to the game lands. Follow this 0.4 miles to a small parking area.
